Tip and Guide Needed before Buying Tech 2 for SPS Programming

Hi all,
Here are all experience of Chinese GM Tech 2 interface for SPS programming and hardware key issues. You will get useful tips/guide. Have fun.

Confirm your card with a brand:
Before buying, you should tell your seller: Will you choose GM or SAAB or Isuzu or Opel card?
Because every card to one brand cars. If you want to do more brands, they will ask your pay extra fee for other cards.
Hope it be useful.

Can do programming:
Chinese clone Tech II don’t have hardware key but it can do programming

TIS2000 dongle & sw make it:
The TIS2000 Dongle( the newest one is USB flash type ) and the TIS 2000 software could do the SPS programming . usually the chinese gm tech 2 kit not included it . you should point it speartly that you need it very important . may be need more $100.0 for the dongle and software

Work for cars 2008 or older:
You should use the Professional Diagnostic Tool TIS200 dongle and software for reprogramming SPS and access Immo SYSTEM but just work for 2008 year or older. for new cars, you should use the MDI module programming online

MDI instead for new cars:
buy GM MDI instead as it will run tech2win and do sps flashing and also do latest model cars that tech2 won’t do

Must have TIS2000:
the Chinese GM Tech-2 can’t program, if you want to do programming you need to buy the TIS2000 software. It has the hardware key.

Works well for one year:
if you consider to buy one, I can suggest you buy it using the site https://www.obd2tool.com/goods-1568-GM+Tech2+GM+Scanner+-CANdi++TIS+(Works+for+GMSAABOPELSUZUKIISUZUHolden).html, I buy it one years ago, and it works well now, and they can supply us the technical support. I use it to program with the TIS2000 software….

Works fine for 2 years:
I bought a Chinese OPEL TECH2 interface off obd2tool.com, from two years now and it stills working fine. If you use the right software you wont found any inconvenience …
There’s no need of drivers and Opel tech II is an Auto exec file, so it doesn’t need to install.

Both 2 units work fine:
I bought 2 units from different suppliers, both work fine, until I bought the original tech2 card from one of this suppliers It does snapshots, and programming but one of the units wont accept the card, it seems like one of the edges close to the pin connector side , is been damage well one of the problems, the main problem I think is after I use explorer manager to upload the file to the tech2 card on my laptop I did it many times with no problems it work just fine, but after that day I couldn’t it goes up to 25% and gives an error related to power , couldn’t find a card of 12v or something like that, and the other card finish fine but when when I plug to the tech2 it wont recognize the card it displays downloading mode and that it, but a clone card work fine so I use this to diagnose, ifany body knows how to do a low level format or some fix like that in order to be able to use the card again please help.

Until today I’m using tech2 clone from www.obd2tool.com it does SPS and all, still working fine I have a software emulator for dongle it works great on American NAO, Brasil, Isuzu, I do SPS on all this vehicles with no problems. just make sure you get a card for SPS, snapshots and it will work.

Adding Transponder Keys:

A.Switch to “IMMO”, and prepare all keys to register.

B.Turn ignition ON to position II(Instrument panel light on but engine OFF), connect programmer to OBDII socket

C.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, Turn ignition OFF.

D.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di, Di, Di”, turn ignition on without changing key.

E.The buzzer long beep once “Di—“, key registration begins.

F.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, Turn ignition OFF.

G.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di, Di”, Change another key and turn ignition ON

H.Repeat step F,G, register more up to 6 keys.

I.For last key: First turn ignition ON/OFF following above instructions. When the buzzer periodically short beep with “Di Di”, turn on ignition WITHOUT changing key. Then the buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, DO NOT turn off ignition and keep ignition on for more than 20 seconds.

J.The buzzer long beep once “Di—“, key registration finished.

K.The buzzer periodically long beep with “Di—“, start to learn remote function. Learning remote function instruction: close all doors, press and release lock/unlock button on key in 4 seconds until door locks lock/unlock. Then learn next remote.(Some cars do not need remote learning, and no buzzer beep tips for learning remote)

L.Turn ignition OFF. Pull out programmer from OBDII. Try to start engine with every key.

Adding Smart Key:

A.Switch to “SMRT”, and prepare all smart cards to register. Only 1 card in car, and the others out of car.

B.Push one-push-start button, or use ignition key in card, turn ignition ON(Instrument panel light on but engine OFF). If all cards lost and can’t turn ignition on, press and hold one-push-start button. Connect programmer to OBD2TOOL socket.

C.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, turn ignition OFF

D.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di, Di, Di “, turn ignition ON.

E.The buzzer long beep once “Di—“, card registration begins.

F.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, take card out of car.

G.The buzzer periodically short beep with “Di, Di”, take another card in car.

H.Repeat step F,G, register more up to 6 cards

I.For last card: First take card in car following instruction. When the buzzer periodically short beep with “Di”, DO NOT take card out of car and Auto Key Programmer in car for more than 100 seconds.

J.The buzzer long beep once “Di—“, cards registration finished.

K.Turn ignition OFF. Pull out programmer. Try to start engine with every card.

Tip 3: a clean Windows 7 is the best way

I will prefer you to use windows 7 for all the diagnostic devices, this is because of the security of the windows 10. The best way to get a good working diagnostic program is to have one and only laptop for this. A clean windows 7 i are the best way, but this is only my experience

odis-e,-s on same laptop, Windows x64? x86?

Tip 1: odis-e odis-s same laptop, x64 better

Both odis e and odis s can work together on same laptop partition. no problem. For newer versions will be better x64.

Tip 2: x86 much better, no lack of functionality

x86 is soooo much better since there is no any lack of the functionality for any kind of driver of ur laptop , I test both x86 is better and u can install both yes ODIS-S and ODIS-E

Tip 3: on Windows 7 x64, perfect

Works perfectly on Windows 7 x64, I have Engineering 7.2.2, Service 4.1.4 and Service 4.2.3 in same partition and no problem, if you execute any of them in Windows 10 you won’t be able to select VAS 5054A

Tip 4: on Windows 7 64bit works very well

I installed on win7 64bit and it installed and I added the update file from the download, starts and works very well, thank you all for your guidance and comments.

To solve MB SD Connect C4 Error Code 204, just put fresh 6 battery and do a csd firmware update. This is a common problem with cheap SD C4.

Why does my dash BEEP when I access my ABS controller?

In many of the newer models, there will be a series of BEEPs from the dash when you access the ABS controller (and the ABS light will be ON while you are talking to it). This perfectly normal and is done to notify the driver that the ABS is non-functional while in diagnostic mode.

Are there any Fault-Codes that can and should be ignored?

Yes. Most 1995 and earlier Bosch ECU’s will show you a DTC 00513 – Engine Speed Sensor (G28) if you scan them when the engine is not running. This fault code goes away by itself once you start the engine. If this sensor were truly defective, the engine would not run at all! Please ignore this code.
In addition, many Automatic Transmission Control Modules will show a DTC that indicates a faulty brake light switch. This can also be ignored and will not appear if you press the brakes once before checking for Fault Codes.


What’s the Work Shop Code?

Every VW/Audi dealer in the world is assigned a unique Work Shop Code. A brand-new factory VAG-1551/1552 or VAS-5051/5052 scan tool will not function until a WSC is entered, and once it has been entered, it cannot be changed. Whenever a Control Module is Re-Coded, or certain Adaptations are performed, the scan tool sends its WSC to the control module and the control module records it for posterity. Thus, if a scan-tool is used to do something like disable certain airbags, in principle, it should be possible to tell who (which dealer) did that. Like the factory scan-tools, VAG-COM will accept a WSC once on the Options Screen. If you enter a WSC there, it will be sent to the control modules exactly like it’s supposed to be. If you leave the WSC on the Options Screen at it’s default of 00000, VAG-COM will operate in “stealth mode”. Instead of sending a fixed WSC, it will put back whatever was already in the control module, with one exception: If it finds the “telltale” WSC (30011) that VWTool/VDS-PRO likes to leave behind, VAG-COM will replace it with something more innocuous.
